Summary Punjab officials reviewed Muharram security arrangements in Lahore, with measures including surveillance, emergency response, and coordination among departments.
LAHORE (Web Desk) — Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin has reviewed security and administrative arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings in the provincial capital.
During a meeting, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Ali Ejaz briefed the minister on preparations for procession routes and majalis locations, while DIG Operations Faisal Kamran provided details of security arrangements during Muharram.
Officials said protective security arrangements around major processions have been completed, along with facilities including langar, drinking water, and milk distribution points for participants.
The briefing highlighted that procession routes will be monitored through CCTV cameras, while security personnel will be deployed at sensitive locations to ensure safety.
Bilal Yasin directed effective coordination among relevant departments, including the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), Rescue services, and other concerned institutions.
The provincial minister said contingency plans would be implemented to deal with emergency situations at procession and gathering sites, while arrangements would also be made in view of possible rainfall.
He added that, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, meetings have been held with religious scholars and peace committees across all districts to ensure a safe and peaceful environment during Muharram.
